At Mighty, we're fortunate to have a team whose diverse experiences help shape the way we grow our business and connect with customers. Bob is a great example of that. From starting his career in hospitality to launching his own craft beer brand and now driving sales within the UK market, his journey has been anything but conventional.

We caught up with Bob to learn more about his career, what inspires him, and why he's passionate about helping build a more sustainable future through plant-based food and drink.

Q1. Can you tell us about your background in hospitality and food & beverage?

Bob:
My career in food and beverage really began as a dishwasher during one of my summer breaks. I caught the hospitality bug early on and decided to go all in by attending the Hotel School in the Netherlands.  From there, I ended up doing internships in the US where I got a real taste for the high standards of fine dining. Over the years, I’ve worked my way through hotels, pubs, and kitchens, which means I truly understand the heart of this industry. I love being able to bring that well-rounded perspective to the table.

Q2. You’ve also worked internationally. How has that shaped your approach?

Bob:
Living and working abroad has honestly been one of the biggest influences on how I approach everything I do. I’ve been lucky enough to live and work in five different countries, which gave me a real "behind the scenes" look at how hospitality and culture are so closely tied together.

It was such an eye-opening experience that went way beyond just learning new service styles. It really taught me how to adapt on the fly and be much more understanding of different cultures and perspectives. I think having that global background makes it so much easier to connect with people from all walks of life and bring a bit more empathy to the table every single day.

Q3. We heard you even created your own beer?

Bob:
I absolutely did! I’ve always been so passionate about craft beer that I really wanted to try my hand at creating something new and exciting myself. I built the brand from the ground up, working hand-in-hand with a local brewery to get everything just right before eventually scaling it up in size. It turned out to be a huge success, and honestly, that experience is what really sparked my whole journey into the world of sales. There is just nothing like the feeling of seeing people actually enjoying something you helped create!

Q4. What does your role involve now?

Bob:
Right now, I’m working as a Sales Manager, where my main focus is finding new leads and helping the company really grow within the UK market. I spend a lot of my time sourcing fresh sales opportunities and coming up with new ways to help the business expand. I really enjoy being the face of the company because building lasting relationships is so important to me. I still use all those skills I picked up during my years in hospitality to make sure every connection is genuine.

Q5. What motivates you in the plant-based space?

Bob:
I’m a huge fan of the food and beverage industry, but I also can't ignore the fact that the way we’re living right now just isn't sustainable for the planet. I’ve become a big advocate for tackling climate change because I truly believe that if we want to leave a better world behind for the next generation, we need to start making some small sacrifices. For me, working in the plant-based space is the perfect way to combine my love for great food with a mission that actually protects our future. It feels great to be part of a solution that tastes good and does good at the same time.

Bob's journey is a reminder that every experience contributes to where we are today. His background in hospitality, international experience and entrepreneurial spirit have all helped shape the way he approaches sales and relationship building at Mighty.
