Where Story Meets Service: Q&A with Olivia, Content Editor at Mighty
Meet Olivia, Mighty’s Content Editor, the voice behind the stories you see, read, and feel. With a background in Journalism and hands-on experience in food service, Olivia brings clarity, credibility, and a deep understanding of food culture to Mighty’s marketing.
Q: Olivia, you studied Journalism at university before spending time working in food service. How did those two worlds shape you?
Olivia: Studying Journalism taught me how to observe, listen, ask better questions and tell stories. This contrasted with my time in the food service industry, where I was constantly surrounded by people in high-pressure environments. Long hours, split shifts and quick decisions were part of the everyday, it’s an intense, exhausting, but deeply rewarding industry. Together, these experiences have shaped how I communicate and deliver: forever asking questions, always people-first, and with a healthy respect for the clock…!
Q: What drew you to Mighty after working in food service?
Olivia: What drew me to MIGHTY was that it never felt like a brand trying too hard to fit in. There’s a genuine sense of purpose behind it, but also humour, personality and creativity, stemming from all the team members within it. Coming from food service, I understood the pace and pressures of the industry, so being able to work for a brand that genuinely supports and speaks to those spaces felt very natural to me. For me personally, it also felt like the perfect balance, being able to work in a creative space while never being too far away from food, people and the culture that surrounds it.
Q: How does your background in food service influence the content you create?
Olivia: It gives me a much more realistic perspective, I’m always thinking about how content lands with real people and real routines. Whether it’s recipe content, campaigns or storytelling, I try to keep things approachable, useful and human. Food is emotional, social and deeply personal, and I think working in hospitality teaches you that very quickly.
Q: What does being a Content Editor at Mighty involve day-to-day?
Olivia: No two days are ever the same, which is something I really enjoy! A big part of the job is translating ideas into something people can actually connect with, whether that’s through storytelling, visuals or the tone of voice itself. There’s a lot of collaboration involved too, both internally and out in the field at events and activations.
Q: How does strong storytelling benefit Mighty as a brand?
Olivia: Strong storytelling builds trust by putting people first. It allows MIGHTY to go beyond the product, finding its place at shared tables, in the conversations around them, and within the everyday meals, routines and habits that bring people together. Our aim is for storytelling to add something meaningful, not just for us as a brand, but to the people who welcome MIGHTY into their lives.
Q: What’s different about creating content for Mighty compared to other brands?
Olivia: MIGHTY has a very distinct personality, which makes creating content exciting because there’s room to be playful, conversational and aware whilst remaining authentic to the brand. There’s also a real openness to creativity and experimentation. We’re not trying to sound overly polished or distant, we want content to feel like it belongs in people’s everyday lives and bring people joy!
Q: How does your journalism training show up in Mighty’s marketing?
Olivia: Journalism taught me to look beyond surface-level trends and think more carefully about people, context and communication. That naturally feeds into marketing because strong content isn’t just about selling something, it’s about understanding what matters to people and why. It also taught me the importance of clarity. In a world where everyone is constantly consuming content, daily, hourly, being able to communicate something simply and honestly holds great value
Q: In one sentence, what do you bring to Mighty?
Olivia: Creative chaos… but obviously organised in a colour coded content calendar.
From studying journalism to working on the front lines of food service, Olivia’s career journey has given her a unique perspective on communication, creativity and connection. At Mighty, she combines storytelling expertise with a genuine understanding of the people and communities we serve, helping to create content that feels authentic, approachable and meaningful.
Whether she’s crafting a campaign, developing content or bringing a new idea to life, Olivia’s focus remains the same: putting people at the heart of every story. And while she may describe what she brings to Mighty as “creative chaos”, it’s clear that behind every colour-coded content calendar is a storyteller who understands how powerful great communication can be.
